Class Structure

In this class we will address five major questions around the relationship between biology and the environment with a focus broadly on biodiversity. Readings, lectures, and activities (in lecture and lab) will allow us to move across the learning ladder. Memorization of basic terms will require you to read the text and outside readings (listed below by date). Comprehension will be assessed through quizzes and activities. The effectiveness of your participating in lecture and lab activities will reflect your comprehension of the readings. A failure to be prepared will limit the scope of discussion and movement up the learning ladder.

Five Key Questions

1.What is biodiversity?

2.What creates biodiversity?

3.Why is biodiversity valuable?

4.Why is biodiversity at risk?

5.What can we do?
